We hope you have all had a lovely summer. It has been a wonderful first week back to school. Our boys have all had growth spurts over the summer and have settled back into school life brilliantly. They look so smart in their uniforms, we do apologise for sending them home dirty though!

Our topic this term is ‘Houses and Homes’ so watch this space for some amazing work. We have sent a letter home requesting your support.

The boys have all made a ‘shape’ house to link in with maths (2D shapes), they had fun making them.

We shall be linking work tasks to a lovely text by Julia Donaldson, ‘The Paper Dolls.’

First week back and we have the boys working hard in their TEACCH station. They made us so proud. Lots of tasks were completed independently and all completed correctly too.

Music with Bev was a huge success, as always. The boys really enjoyed exploring the instruments and making interesting sounds! 😁🎶🎼🎶

We have a new member in our Birch team. Jodie has moved to support a different class and we have welcomed Kirsty. She has bonded really well with the boys and is already a valued member of Team Birch 🌳.

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents for joining us for the Summer Festival. It was so lovely to see everyone, and the boys had a great time with us all. We were so proud of them.

The bags that our boys made to sell at the festival were a HUGE hit. We sold out within the first half an hour. Alan Sugar, watch this space. We have six budding entrepreneurs in Birch class. 😊

We had a spa in class this week. The boys deserved a pamper and we did it in style!

This week we have enjoyed lots of sensory story time sessions, outside play and outside learning with a safari focus.

The boys have worked on their social skills, playing and working along side their peers. Life skills have been extremely successful, cleaning teeth and tidying things away after activities.

We really have had an incredible week, learning new things, having fun and being outside!

Another fun packed week for our Birch boys. We have been learning through play, exploration and always have lots of fun!

The boys enjoyed making pizza twirls in cooking this week. They were able to spread the tomato purée onto the pastry, using a knife, extremely well. Look at the end results, they were so yummy.

Our Safari topic has been wonderful this half term, learning about different animals and their habitats. In art the boys made the most amazing backdrops for the silhouette animals. We were so pleased with the results. 🐅🐯🐅🐯🐅🐯🐅

Music with Bev was very entertaining. We went on our sensory train journey and enjoyed lots of sensory experiences.

Well-being Wednesday was a hit! Relaxation, bubbles, calming music and lots of smiles.

We take the safari adventures outside every week and the boys explore, interact with their peers and have a wonderful time.

Secondary pizza night was a huge success. The boys had a great time with their peers, from other classes. Playing games and eating pizza, what more can you ask for!

What an amazing experience our boys have had this week. Cooking, creativity, socialising and exploring. They have successfully developed lots of skills. More of the same next week!

We are working really hard to develop the boys communication skills. This week we have focused on signing ‘Good morning.’ Have fun at home practicing this, it will be extremely beneficial.

We have been getting into the football spirit in Birch class this week. To support our team in the Euros we have made some England flags and bunting. We have also given our fabulous Father’s Day cards a football theme. Dads, we hope you love them as much as we do!

Forest school was absolutely amazing! The boys always enjoy roaming free and exploring, searching for mini beasts and being outside is just perfect for our boys. We were joined by a class from our Walsall Wood Campus which made it an extra special session!

Apologies for the paint stained feet but I have to say that the boys had so much fun making safari themed footprints for our display. We had a role play session after listening to the story ‘The tiger who came for tea.’ The boys pretended to be a tiger walking in the desert! What an amazing first week back we have had in Birch class. We have enjoyed so many things and had lots of fun. Look at our gallery of fabulousness below:

We had a lovely visit from our fantastic Family Liaison officer, Dan. He was in full swing, joining in with our topic ‘An African Safari.’ He didn’t find any lions or zebras in Birch class but he did find 6 happy boys! Thanks Dan 😀

Whenever we have the opportunity to learn outside we go for it. The boys had some magic music time with the shakers and the parachute. They followed instructions brilliantly and moved underneath the parachute when prompted by the noise of the shakers. We had a wonderful time. 🌞🎶🌞🎶🌞🎶🌞

And relax… the boys are in their element when we visit the immersive room. Soothing music, calm lighting and comfortable surroundings is the perfect environment for the boys to relax and recharge. We really do take full advantage of this amazing space.

We made some binoculars in our creativity session! They will come in handy when we’re exploring while on our imaginary safari next week. The boys made us proud with their painting skills, they really focused on the task.

Bubbles, bean bags, low lighting and quiet time is how we spend our well being sessions. We encourage the boys to relax and enjoy the silence. The boys are very comfortable and peaceful during this time. It really is an essential and important part of our weekly routine.

Thank you for sending in money for our boys to enjoy the ‘Treat Trolley’ it has been a huge success. Teaching the boys the value of money and also encouraging them to communicate what they want to buy is a great life skill for them to have.

In music we had lots of fun! Dancing, singing, marching are just a few of the things that Bev engaged the boys in this week. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

We celebrated a birthday on number day too. Our lovely Nathan was 12 years old so we enjoyed cake, balloons, fun and games.

Our safari adventures took us to the Sahara desert this week and we learned all about African elephants. Did you know that baby elephants weigh as much as 19 stone when they are born? 😳

Swimming was a splash sensation this week. The boys have been mastering floating on their front and back. We are really pleased with the progress they are making. We look forward to showcasing their skills next week when you join us in the pool.

As we were spoilt with some glorious weather we took our safari adventures outside again. The watering hole was welcomed by animals, staff and the boys. We had so much fun exploring the animals in the water, with the sun shining down on us. ☀️💦☀️
