Last Friday we had a special visitor in Bumblebees, Hector the dog. Hector is a PAT (Pets as Therapy) dog. Bev arranged the visit from Hector since she has been friends with his owner Katrina for 35 years. The children really enjoyed meeting Hector and were very gentle.
Hector is a 6 year old ‘Bordoodle’, a Border Collie crossed with a Poodle.

It has been a busy few weeks as always. Bumblebees have been enjoying lots of different activities. Some used their fine motor skills to squeeze pipettes and matched the pipette colour with the dyed water.
Some Bees were busy exploring their surroundings and objects.
We made different types of flowers using glue and tissue paper for the school Super Bloom display.
We especially liked getting messy with shredded paper, water, playdough, soil and chalk, even if we eat a little sometimes 😂
It has been lovely to see some children enjoying looking at books, especially our Train Ride story.
Bev joins us Thursdays and Fridays bringing fun and music to Bumblebees, there is usually a theme. This week Bev took us to a festival to coincide with Glastonbury, she brought lots of junk percussion and drumsticks with her. Here is Bev on Thursday trying to entice the children to make some noise!
By Friday the children (and adults) were all enjoying some festival drumming 😊🥁
This week we have been embracing the heatwave which fits perfectly with our current theme ‘Going on Holiday’. We have spent lots of time outdoors (with sun protection of course), enjoying fun activities and finding ways to keep cool.
⭐ Star of the Week – All of you! ⭐
We have been wowed by your progress at snack times: you have been choosing to sit at the table together, shown good waiting skills for your turn, and used food symbols to communicate your choices. Well done Bumblebees, we are so proud of you 😊
Hello everyone and welcome back for our last term of the year. Our little Bees have settled back into the hive very well and had a fun packed first few days, both indoors and out. We have been celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with lots of lovely activities, take a look at some of the fun we have been having…
We ended the week with a whole school picnic on the big playground, everybody came even the Queen! We celebrated winning ‘joint First place with Dragonflies’ for our cake decorating 🎉 Well done everyone, what a fun start to the term 😍🐝
Hello everyone, we have had a very busy two weeks in Bumblebees 😊🐝. We have been ’back to basics’ concentrating on communication skills (well done, everyone 😊). We have reintroduced our Attention Autism (or ’Bucket’ sessions) and the Bumblebees are reacting fantastically well!
We have been celebrating Eid this week, making decorations and sprinkling hundreds and thousands onto iced biscuits.
We also have a new topic song ’The Train Ride’, which all of our children love. We have started to make a display about the story, and we also had fun moving to the music in P.E.
Our Bumblebees have been very busy this last week, as we approached the Easter holiday. We have used paint and collage to make Easter pictures and cards. We had a very exciting Easter egg hunt in our classroom and then had a wonder time eating them. We also made some Easter crowns/bonnets as well as explored our lovely Easter sensory tuff tray.
The Bumblebees have all worked hard this term and we are so proud of them. We hope you have a good break and lots of good weather.
This week we are showcasing the activities we did for the recent Hindu festival of Holi. This is a very joyful festival as people celebrate the coming of Spring and its colours. Our Bumblebees made some iced biscuits with hundreds and thousands, produced some lovely rainbow pictures, danced under the parachute, and some of them had their faces painted. We also held a celebration assembly with our satellite friends on Friday. What a fantastic week!
The Bumblebees have enjoyed the better weather this week, being outside more and having a go on the bikes.
We have continued our life skills and problem solving with spreading jam on bread, and also by making some fruit rockets by covering bananas with chocolate spread. Yum 😊
There are quite a few festivals and celebrations coming up, and this week we explored all things green for St. Patrick’s Day, making a collage of a shamrock, as well as listening to some traditional Irish music.
We have been looking at and making lots of stars this week. We made potato print star patterns, which was fun. We made cheesy bread stars, which were very tasty. Then we used our whole bodies in P.E. to make star shapes, listening and moving to music called ’Birth of a Star’.
Welcome back after half term. We hope you had a great week with your children, although the stormy weather probably meant staying indoors more than ususal ☔️🌪
This week we have celebrated World Book Week, our theme being ’Animal Antics’. This meant we were able to re-visit our favourite book and song, ’The Animal Boogie’. We enjoyed watching and joining in all of the different moves featured. We made some animal pictures using finger paints and dabbers, which we have included for you below.
We have focussed on reading and looking at books, including the whole school Book of the Week, ‘Dear Zoo’, and we captured some lovely moments of our children looking at books, and of course, iPads which require reading skills too.
On Thursday we celebrated by dressing up as animals, or fancy dress. I am sure you will agree all of our bumblebees looked absolutely fantastic, as did our lovely ladies in Bumblebees class.
