Hello everyone, we have had a very busy two weeks in Bumblebees 😊🐝. We have been ’back to basics’ concentrating on communication skills (well done, everyone 😊). We have reintroduced our Attention Autism (or ’Bucket’ sessions) and the Bumblebees are reacting fantastically well!

We have been celebrating Eid this week, making decorations and sprinkling hundreds and thousands onto iced biscuits.

We also have a new topic song ’The Train Ride’, which all of our children love. We have started to make a display about the story, and we also had fun moving to the music in P.E.

Have a great weekend

Easter Festivities 🐣🌹✝️

Hello everyone

Our Bumblebees have been very busy this last week, as we approached the Easter holiday. We have used paint and collage to make Easter pictures and cards. We had a very exciting Easter egg hunt in our classroom and then had a wonder time eating them. We also made some Easter crowns/bonnets as well as explored our lovely Easter sensory tuff tray.

The Bumblebees have all worked hard this term and we are so proud of them. We hope you have a good break and lots of good weather.

Colourful Holi! πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰

This week we are showcasing the activities we did for the recent Hindu festival of Holi. This is a very joyful festival as people celebrate the coming of Spring and its colours. Our Bumblebees made some iced biscuits with hundreds and thousands, produced some lovely rainbow pictures, danced under the parachute, and some of them had their faces painted. We also held a celebration assembly with our satellite friends on Friday. What a fantastic week!

See you soon,

Spring is coming! 🌹🌸🌼

Hello everyone

The Bumblebees have enjoyed the better weather this week, being outside more and having a go on the bikes.

We have continued our life skills and problem solving with spreading jam on bread, and also by making some fruit rockets by covering bananas with chocolate spread. Yum 😊

There are quite a few festivals and celebrations coming up, and this week we explored all things green for St. Patrick’s Day, making a collage of a shamrock, as well as listening to some traditional Irish music.

Stars everywhere βœ¨πŸŒŸβοΈπŸ’«

Hello everyone

We have been looking at and making lots of stars this week. We made potato print star patterns, which was fun. We made cheesy bread stars, which were very tasty. Then we used our whole bodies in P.E. to make star shapes, listening and moving to music called ’Birth of a Star’.

What a starry week!

See you soon,

Animal Antics!

Hello everyone

Welcome back after half term. We hope you had a great week with your children, although the stormy weather probably meant staying indoors more than ususal β˜”οΈπŸŒͺ

This week we have celebrated World Book Week, our theme being ’Animal Antics’. This meant we were able to re-visit our favourite book and song, ’The Animal Boogie’. We enjoyed watching and joining in all of the different moves featured. We made some animal pictures using finger paints and dabbers, which we have included for you below.

We have focussed on reading and looking at books, including the whole school Book of the Week, β€˜Dear Zoo’, and we captured some lovely moments of our children looking at books, and of course, iPads which require reading skills too.

On Thursday we celebrated by dressing up as animals, or fancy dress. I am sure you will agree all of our bumblebees looked absolutely fantastic, as did our lovely ladies in Bumblebees class.

Have a great weekend!

The Gruffalo

Hi everyone

It has been a busy week in the Bumblebees class! We have been watching and exploring The Gruffalo story.

Below is the story song we listen to during our ‘Good Morning’ & ‘Good Afternoon’ collaborative sessions, where our Bumblebees sit amongst their friends and positively participate by clapping, looking and smiling at the story.

The Bumblebees have been hearing all about a big, scary monster called The Gruffalo. We have learned that in fact he is not so scary, but the little mouse is the villain of the story! The children have enjoyed developing their motor skills by painting a big picture of the Gruffalo and also small ones for finger puppets. Did you know? Our Bumblebees were able to make a choice whether they wanted to use a roller or brush… Good communicating Bees! 🐝

We have also enjoyed exploring a Gruffalo sensory tray.

During our Forest visit, we all tired to find the Gruffalo who was hiding…

Amongst all that, our Bumblebees have also worked hard at their communication targets, as well as making some shakers with dry pasta and paper plates or cardboard cylinders.

We also had the time to work on our fine motor skills through cooking pizza’s, building, stacking and threading. We ALL enjoyed eating the Pizza’s for snack!

What a wonderful week we have had. We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Bumblebees’ Remembrance Week

Hello everyone

Our Bumblebees have worked hard this week exploring the colour red. We have used paint, materials and pastry to make poppies of different sizes. We watched a video about Remembrance Day, which our lovely visiting music teacher Bev made for us last year, and our adults have worn their poppies in school.

Below is to lovely assembly our Music Teacher Bev created for us in honour of remembering those we have lost.

Forest Fun and Lights and Sounds!

Hello everyone, we were excited to welcome our Bumblebees back into school on Tuesday. They have settled back into school routines really well. We do appreciate that some of our children can find having holidays and returning to school difficult, so well done Bumblebees!

This week, we have had some lovely sensory sessions. We explored lights and sounds of Divali and also Bonfire Night ( if anyone has taken photographs of your own celebrations and you wish them to be included in future blogs, please send them to postbox@oakwood.walsall.sch.uk).

We also went to the Forest school at Rushall, which we will be visiting every Thursday until Christmas. It was a lovely dry sunny day which was perfect for exploring – let’s hope we get the same every week.

Best wishes from your Bumblebees Team 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Happy Half Term!

Hi everyone this is a quick catch-up of our activities in the Bumblebees classroom before we broke up on Friday.

We did some super counting and 3D shape work, including exchanging some coins for currant buns (or large chocolate buttons, which we used here). Some of us then chose to investigate independently, which is fantastic.

We also came to the end of our swimming sessions, which will begin again after Christmas. We are sure that you will be as delighted as we are at the fantastic progress made by our Bumblebees in just a few short weeks.

Bumblebees had a fantastic Friday when we dressed up as animals, and took part in the whole school Walk-a-Thon around the big playground. Thank you for supporting us with costumes, etc.

We will be continuing with our animal kingdom theme after half term. Our next story/song to complement our activities, particularly as we are going to start visiting the wonderful Forest School at Rushall, will be The Gruffalo. We will be putting this onto our Blog, as well as giving you more details about the sessions.

Holiday Homework: if you can get out for local walks, it would be lovely to see some photos, which you can send to us at postbox@oakwood.Walsall.sch.uk, or perhaps you could collect some leaves, fir cones or twigs?

Have a lovely week. We’ll see you soon.
