Sensory play and exploration

We enjoyed being pampered when Jan brought in her foot spa and massager. We felt the vibrations on our hands and feet.

We touched and tasted frozen flavoured ice blocks, we watched as it melted.

We got very messy with foam and paint, using our fine and gross motor skills, and our senses. We made prints from our marvellous messy play.

Look out for our art creations we made while having fun.

We travelled the globe, experiencing different foods and music from around the world.

Cleaning up: After all that food sampling we should brush our teeth, thankfully we do practice brushing our teeth everyday. A big thank you Layla for helping tidy up after all the mess we made this week.

🌞A BIG blog!🌞 Summer 2 – weeks 2,3,4

Apologies for the delay in our blog but we have been very, very busy bees 🐝🐝🐝

We have been doing lots of mark making with different media…

Including getting messy with foam…

We have been very creative with paints and made butterflies for our ‘Summer display

Every day we practice brushing our teeth… the songs really help us. During this activity we are also learning maths skills ‘postition and direction’: front, back, left, right, up, down, round, side.

Wednesdays we do PE in the hall; we have been practicing our balancing and throwing skills.

We also have lots of fun and exercise in the Rainbow Room soft play; the grown ups seem to like it too 😉😀

We have been engaging in early maths, building our understanding of colour, shape, size, pattern and sequence.

Its been fun to play and investigate in different outdoor areas around school.

… and keeping cool on hot days with ice and water.

⭐⭐⭐ Our recent ‘Stars’ are Layla, Renesmae and Oscar – well done! ⭐⭐⭐

Welcome back – Summer 2 week 1 😎🐝

It was warming to see our Bees buzzing happily back into the hive, lots of smiles and hugs, happy to return to school.

We are continuing our ‘Under the Sea’ topic, making sea creatures that appear in our story song. We engaged, and used our fine and gross motor skills, adding detail with paint and collage to our turtles and an octopus.

Wednesdays are Music with Bev – this week the children especially liked Bev’s drum with beads inside, they looked as the beads rolled around.

Thursday – A sensory story teller visited school, he told us two stories; ‘The Seaside’ and ‘At the Fair’. We got really involved and interacted as the stories were told. We had a go at ‘hook a duck’, we counted coins for the fair rides, drove the Dodgems and saw a ghost on the spooky train ride. It was lots of fun at the Fair!

We had a lovely first week back, enjoying our favourite activities and being with all our Bumblebee friends 🐝🐝🐝

Oliver is our Star of the Week⭐🤩⭐

20th-24th March ~ Spring is sprung! 🐣

Spring finally arrived this week with spells of warm sun, short sharp showers, rainbows and blustery breezes. Bumblebees have been embracing springtime indoors and out. We began making our Easter cards, exploring making marks in different ways.

We used collage to make a Spring chick.

We have enjoyed exploring outside. Climbing, running and bouncing help develop our gross motor skills.

Another busy week in Bumblebees 🐝

This week we have been developing our problem solving skills in lots of different ways. We have been joining in with counting songs and have been investing different textures, including ice and flour.

We continued activities around our ‘Move It’ topic; transport land and sea. We used our fine and gross motor skills to mark make with our hands, vehicles or other objects. We are going to use this artwork to make a green train.

Some of us have been enjoying playing with cereals and using our senses: crunching, munching, tasting, touching, sprinkling and listening. The foil tray made the cereal sound more interesting.

We have joined in with activities this week to help us to improve our physical skills. We have enjoyed playing with play dough, pushing cars, bouncing, climbing and spending time outside. We also had another exciting swimming session.

Musa was our Star of the week, for fabulous progress using communication aids to express ‘more or finished’. Also for experimenting with his social skills to make connections with his peers and staff.

Musa embraced his star moment, Well done Musa 🤩

Lots to celebrate with our friends⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🎨🎉

It has been a very busy few weeks in Bumblebees. There is always lots to celebrate this time of year from Autumn to Christmas, plus our ongoing personal achievements, in addition this year we have the World Cup too! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🦁🦁🦁

We often Celebrate through different art activities. For Children in Need we used finger paints to put spots on Pudsey, or we guided adult hands if we didn’t want to get messy.
We used brushes, and rollers to paint a design on a football strip. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

To kick off the World Cup we set up a goal in the classroom, staff modelled being goal keeper, it mostly ended up with ‘hand ball’ and lots of throwing and catching 🤩

Our swimming session continued the football theme…

On Thursday we took our first visit to the Woods this term, the children enjoyed the bus journey and discovering the area, though most seem to prefer the wide open space on the playing field.

We have seen some fabulous interactions: children trying new things; problem solving; communicating verbally or using symbols; or self regulating by enjoying their favourite sensory activities.

Friday was whole school ‘Wellbeing Day’. We enjoyed being together, having fun and participating in sensory bag painting. We are going to add our colourful creations to a whole school ‘Wellbeing’ display.

Jeans for Genes 2022 👖

Jeans for Genes Day is a fundraising day for Life-altering Genetic Conditions that affect around half a million children in the UK. On Jeans for Genes day, children and staff wore jeans or casual clothes instead of their usual school clothing and made a £1 voluntary contribution towards fundraising.

Bumblebees embraced the day and ’celebrated with their friends’ by wearing jeans and participating in decorating a pair of jeans with lots of sticky glue and colourful materials.

It was lots of fun 😍🐝

Welcome back Bumblebees 2022/23 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

We hope you have had a wonderful summer break, the weather has been kind, but signs of Autumn are on the way bringing wonderful colours and celebrations. Our topic this term is ‘Celebrating with our Friends’ and we hope to share some of our fun with you over the coming weeks.

We’ve taken a slow buzz back into the hive this week, there are changes to get used to, new routines and new faces. A warm welcome to Claire our new teacher and Sade our new TA in the hive, Kymberlie, Vicky and Jo are looking forward to Beekeeping with you.

It has been super to see your children settling in this week, picking up on their favourite activities and investigating new ones…

Some have been ’beeing’ creative with paint…

Sadly we ended the week on a sombre note following news of the death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family and those who knew and loved her. A time for peace and reflection during this period of National Mourning.
