Welcome back Caterpillars! We hope you all had a nice half term. We have had a very busy week in school even though Monday was a training day!

We enjoyed a last session in the Forest with blue sky and sunshine! We’ll be going back after Christmas but this half term we start our swimming on Tuesday mornings! One of our main focus activities was looking at fireworks which are used to celebrate Bonfire Night and Diwali. We’ve also had a lovely time in the Discovery Room so this week’s blog has lots of great photos of these activities.

We made some beautiful pictures with paint and glitter.

We love the Discovery Room.

And finally we are going to share our Superstars.

This week Sameer was our Caterpillar Superstar! 🥳 🌟

Our fantastic cake decorators in Caterpillars, worked together and have been awarded joint first prize with our friends in Robins class. This was a fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support. Well done Caterpillars. We hope you enjoy the photos 🐛 🎂 🏅 🏆 ⭐️ ✨

So proud of Caterpillars for winning joint first with Robins. This is Ruth (our Senior Assistant Headteacher) and Nicole (our Assistant Headteacher) giving us the good news!!
Here are the Makaton signs for caterpillar and cake if you would like to have a go at signing at home.

Bye for now 👋 Have a lovely weekend! 😊

A very busy week in Caterpillars 🐛

This week we have been to the Forest which was great fun. Some of you may have missed it as we have had some children feeling poorly in the last couple of weeks. Don’t worry if you missed the first session as we will be going regularly throughout the year! Have a look at the pictures so you can see where you will be going very soon!

In this week’s blog, I’m going to share some pictures of our Forest fun, some pictures of our story activities on ‘the Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and then show you our display activity on our Oakwood Satellite topic, ‘Earth and Space, Night and Day’. I’ve added the song that we sang, ‘Zoom Zoom Zoom’. We love joining in with the countdown in our number song time before lunch.

We are really enjoying our story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. If you go back to the first blog you will see the story animation and the rap song that we love. You can share it with your family! 😊 We have been showing our little class caterpillars the fruit. We’ve handled, tasted and pretended to feed our caterpillars! We’ve also had great fun with the play dough and enjoyed using the mark making dabbers.

Here are our fantastic rockets 🚀 We have painted them and next week we will stick on our faces to make it look like we are on the rocket and blasting off to the moon. We will put them on our display and show you the finished result next week.

We hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog 😊

See you on Monday for more adventures! 👋

Welcome to our second Caterpillar Class blog. We’ve been working on our displays this week so we thought you might like to see us being busy and creative. What do you think of our ‘Very Hungry Caterpillars?’ 🐛

We’ll make sure to show you a picture of the whole display when all our pictures are up. In the meantime have a look at us having fun. Some of us enjoyed having our hands painted and some of us reached for the paintbrush to create an independent version. They are all fantastic and the staff were very impressed at the attention and concentration levels! Fantastic work Caterpillars! 😁

Welcome to our new little caterpillars! 🐛 We hope you enjoy seeing their first week in Caterpillar Class!

We had a wonderful week with everybody spending a few days with their new friends and getting to know the adults, classroom and playground. It was warm and sunny and although there were a few tears initially, there were lots of happy faces and smiles by the end of each day! Well done to all the children and also to caterpillar parents as we know this has been a huge adjustment for all of you too!

We have spent lots of time playing and exploring but we have introduced our story and story songs. We have started with the Very Hungry Caterpillar so that we can get to know what a caterpillar is and create some lovely work to put on our big display board. I have added the animation and the rap for you to enjoy at home!

We hope you have enjoyed our first blog. We will post some more pictures of our adventures in school at the end of next week. Feel free to comment on the blog. If you ever want to send any photos of our little caterpillars at home please send them to vnoakes@oakwood.walsall.sch.uk and we can share them in class or on the blog if you wish. Please don’t hesitate to ring school or email if I can help with anything!
Bye for now! Kind regards from Vicky and the Caterpillar team (Kris, Amanda, Nicola, Maryam, Megan and Maria)
