Welcome back to our Deer Class blog! We hope you had a lovely break, we had some wonderful moments this week and it was lovely to see so many happy faces this week! We have been busy in our sessions this week, we have all engaged incredibly well.
This week in Science continued our topic “Plants and Animals in Our Local Environment”. 🪴🌸🌺🌻🌼🦊🦌🐿We explored an insect garden tuff tray and we explored the characteristics of different insects. We have become super scientists and are using lots of scientific language in our sessions which is fantastic! 🔬🧫🥼🧪👩🔬🧑🔬
In maths we continued our work on shapes, this time we were able to label more 3D shapes which is fantastic. We are also exploring the properties of shapes such as their faces, sides and vertices. We did a wonderful job! 🔵🟩🔺⭐️❤️
In our maths lesson based on number this week we worked in our special teams “Batman Team” and “Spider-Man Team”. We worked on numbers within 10 and 20, we engaged well in the session and used concrete manipulatives effectively to support our learning!
This week we had a lovely trip to our amazing library to borrow a book of our choice. During the day in Deer Class we have frequent times where we engage in a book and have some calm time. It was amazing to see us learning the skills of a librarian! We scanned our books and scanned our library barcode and explored books that we showed interest in. ⭐️📚
We continued our “Ice Worlds” topic in class, we have been learning about the Arctic and Antarctica! We have learnt about what the environments are like there, the similarities and differences, the animals that live there and some wonderful facts! 🐻❄️🐧❄️🌨
Our Champion this week is… Abdullah! Abdullah is always so polite and friendly to everyone, he is a wonderful role model around school at Oakwood! Well done Abdullah we are so proud of you! ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️
