Forest Adventures 🌳🦌

We loved our visit to the Forest this week, we went with our friends from Chestnuts and Willows too which was lovely! We enjoyed exploring the forest and interacting with one another. We also had some races too! We loved being out in the fresh air!

Happy St George’s Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This week we celebrated St George’s Day! We learnt about the history and stories about St George. We looked at why St George is a special person and what it means to be a Saint. We learnt that the National flower of England is a red rose. We made St George shields too! We enjoyed learning about this celebration. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🌹

This week in cooking with Beth, we made a bowl of cereal. We practiced pouring skills showing accuracy and control. We designed our own cereal too, we all had some fantastic ideas! We learnt about the importance of meal times too.
Our champion this week is … Zion! Zion has contributed some amazing facts and ideas in history, science, maths, writing and geography! Well done Zion we are so proud of you! ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️

Deer Class Adventures 🦌⭐️

In our science lesson, this week. We have been learning about pushes and pulls. We are learning about the different forces of objects to make them move. We experimented with a wide range of equipment and we even had a tug of war to experience the motions of a pull. We had lots of fun and learnt so much in one lesson! We are so proud of our Deers engagement in the lesson and their contributions. 👩‍🔬🧑‍🔬

We enjoyed a bike safety session with A Stars! We learnt how to ride a bike safely and how to adjust our helmets so they are the perfect fit. We also learnt how to signal which way we are turning. We listened beautifully and showed lots of enthusiasm! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚲

Our champion this week is Joshua! Joshua did fantastic work in Geography, he wrote beautifully and engaged incredibly well in the session, recalling facts and contributing ideas. ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨

A wonderful first week back, Happy Eid! 🌙✨

We have loved learning about Eid this week, we have learnt lots of facts, about special traditions, the history and our own experiences of Eid which is fantastic. We tried some traditional food and enjoyed experiencing the flavours and textures! It was amazing to hear our pupils experience of Eid and how they celebrated the special time with their families. We enjoyed engaging in some craft activities and exploring a tuff tray.

In maths this week we worked in our groups to complete our targets and tasks. We used concrete manipulatives to support our learning. We are using White Rose maths as our scheme of learning. ✏️📚

In Geography our topic is “All Around the World”. We are learning about the equator, Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. We have learnt lots of interesting facts and statistics. Symbols and props are helping to support our learning and help us retain and recall facts. During this lesson we used the globe to find places when requested and we also discussed where we would like to travel to, we had some fantastic answers and we researched them on the laptop together. It was wonderful to hear where our lovely Deers want to travel in the future, it is so exciting! 🌎🗺🏝🏖🛫🛳🛬

We have enjoyed our Attention Autism session this week, this helps us develop early listening and attention skills. This week we watched a magic potion fizz away! We enjoyed looking at the colours and exploring the smells! 🪄🪣✨

On our community visit this week we visited the local shops, we paid at the till and were so polite to the staff in the shops which was beautiful to see. We ended the community visit with a quick visit to the park. We had lots of happy faces, and we enjoyed spending time with each other especially going down the slide! We made some positive memories! ☺️🤩

Our Champion this week is… Cameron! Cameron has had a fantastic week. He has been so kind and helpful to his friends and adults. Cameron has been so polite and has engaged in fantastic conversations showing care and thoughtfulness. Cameron has also made fantastic progress at home and is using his good listening skills! We are so proud of Cameron for his fantastic attitude to both home and school. Well done Cameron! ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨

What a wonderful week we have had in Deer Class! We have had a busy week full of Easter fun! We have some exciting photos to show you!

We had an Easter craft session with our families which was amazing! It was fantastic to spend time with our families and show them our classroom and art room! We made some beautiful Easter crafts together! 🐰🐣🌸

On Friday we had an Easter egg hunt in the classroom! We didn’t leave a chocolate egg in sight! We showed great team work which was wonderful! 🐣🍫

We made some lovely Easter cards for our families too! We wrote in our cards too showing our amazing writing skills! ✏️✍️📝

In cooking with Beth this week, we made Easter nest cakes, we followed instructions well and enjoyed making and eating the cakes! We had a lovely session and showed fantastic teamwork and we took turns! 😊👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳

Last week we learnt about St Patrick’s Day! We learnt lots of facts about the history of St Patrick and we learnt about traditions for the celebration! 🇮🇪🍀☘️

We added some book reviews to our reading tree. We enjoy our quiet reading time where we can relax and immerse ourselves in a book. 📚📖

Deer News Update 🦌✨

We have had a lovely week in Deer Class, we have enjoyed our sessions this week and we have engaged so well contributing our ideas, thoughts and feelings. We are so proud of our fantastic Deer pupils for always being so enthusiastic in sessions!

On Friday we went swimming, we had a fantastic time, we made some incredible progress this week and some of our pupils by the end of the session tried swimming with no arm bands! What an incredible achievement! We are so proud of our pupils water confidence, it is fantastic to see! Our pupils are all working on the Rockhopper scheme and are working on individual targets. 🏊‍♀️🩳🩱🏊

In this weeks number session we looked at sorting objects by different characteristics and working within 20. We enjoyed using concrete manipulatives to support our learning. We enjoy engaging in some whole class teaching where we play games and expressing our answers to the group.😊⭐️

We enjoyed celebrating Red Nose Day for comic relief, on this day we had swimming where we wore our red clothes to the leisure centre! Then we had music where we engaged in a Red Nose Day themed session with Bev! We enjoyed singing and having lots of fun! 🎈❤️

Our champion this week is… Andre! Andre has amazed us with his fantastic communication this week, he is expressing his needs and wants beautifully! A super week in Deer Class! 🦌⭐️✨

We have had a wonderful week in Deer Class. We have engaged in a wide range of activities and have spent time with each other developing our friendships. It’s been a busy week! We have had World Book Day, a table cricket competition, we have made some Mother’s Day cards, engaged in sessions and we have celebrated some very special birthdays! We have had so much fun! 😊⭐️

First stop World Book Day! We had a fantastic time on World Book Day! We dressed up in the colours of the Colour Monsters, we engaged in activities based upon the story. We had a story with a sensory experience too, it was amazing to see everyone engaging and immersing themselves in the story! 🌈 We love this special day where we get to celebrate our favourite books prompting a love of reading at Oakwood! 📚❤️

On World Book Day we introduced reading buddies to Deer Class! All our pupils responded well to this and enjoyed having a little friend to accompany them as they immersed themselves in a story book! We are going to use these in our reading sessions during the week! 😊📚✨

On Tuesday we went to a table cricket competition where we played with other schools! This was a fantastic experience to meet new people, to develop team work skills and to boost independence and self-esteem. We are very proud to say that our amazing Deer Class came 4th! We did a wonderful job, we showed resilience, respect and incredible teamwork, we are so proud of you all! 🏆🏅🙌

During our history session this week we learnt about the Anglo-Saxons! We did an amazing job at recalling facts from our previous sessions, we engaged in a class quiz with buzzers, a craft activity making an Anglo-Saxon shield and a writing task! We also engaged in a sorting activity where we organised photos of jobs into past and present tense. We had an amazing session! 😊📚📝

We completed our “Wheel-a-thon” we loved going on the bikes and completing laps with our friends. We shared the bikes incredibly well showing excellent turn-taking skills. We cheered each other on and showed wonderful enthusiasm! Well done Deers! Thank you so much for all your sponsors! 🛞⭐️🏆

This week we had some birthdays to celebrate! We had an amazing time, we ate some lovely party food, we danced to party songs and enjoyed celebrating our class birthdays! Happy Birthday! 🎉🥳🎂🎁🎈

A week full of adventures! 🦌⭐️

We have had an amazing week! We have loved our community visits! We have engaged very well in our lessons this week too which is fantastic! This week we went to the Garden Centre where we went on a beautiful walk around the lake and around the fairy garden. This was a wonderful experience and we loved being in the outdoors experiencing new sights! We also bought some lovely flowers that we are going to plant at school! 🌸🌺🌷🌹🌻🧚🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️

On Thursday we went to Oakpark to see a mobile art museum! We loved exploring a wide range of amazing paintings that were made by famous artists. These paintings have come from the Tate museum in Liverpool and London, so it was a very special experience to see some spectacular paintings from all over the world! 🌎🎨🖌🖼

We loved using the new bikes this week! We all shared the bikes beautifully it was amazing to see the kindness shifting through in our Deer Class. We enjoyed playing on the bikes developing our gross motor skills and co-ordination!

Welcome back Deers 🦌✨

Welcome back to our Deer Class blog! We hope you had a lovely break, we had some wonderful moments this week and it was lovely to see so many happy faces this week! We have been busy in our sessions this week, we have all engaged incredibly well.

This week in Science continued our topic “Plants and Animals in Our Local Environment”. 🪴🌸🌺🌻🌼🦊🦌🐿We explored an insect garden tuff tray and we explored the characteristics of different insects. We have become super scientists and are using lots of scientific language in our sessions which is fantastic! 🔬🧫🥼🧪👩‍🔬🧑‍🔬

In maths we continued our work on shapes, this time we were able to label more 3D shapes which is fantastic. We are also exploring the properties of shapes such as their faces, sides and vertices. We did a wonderful job! 🔵🟩🔺⭐️❤️

In our maths lesson based on number this week we worked in our special teams “Batman Team” and “Spider-Man Team”. We worked on numbers within 10 and 20, we engaged well in the session and used concrete manipulatives effectively to support our learning!

This week we had a lovely trip to our amazing library to borrow a book of our choice. During the day in Deer Class we have frequent times where we engage in a book and have some calm time. It was amazing to see us learning the skills of a librarian! We scanned our books and scanned our library barcode and explored books that we showed interest in. ⭐️📚

We continued our “Ice Worlds” topic in class, we have been learning about the Arctic and Antarctica! We have learnt about what the environments are like there, the similarities and differences, the animals that live there and some wonderful facts! 🐻‍❄️🐧❄️🌨

Our Champion this week is… Abdullah! Abdullah is always so polite and friendly to everyone, he is a wonderful role model around school at Oakwood! Well done Abdullah we are so proud of you! ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️

Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Valentine’s Day! 🇨🇳🧧🥢💞💐💘

We have had a wonderful week full of celebrations! We have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year, we have been learning about the zodiac animals and the history behind the celebration, along with looking at traditions for the occasion. 🧧🇨🇳🥢 We have also celebrated Valentines Day, we talked about who we love in our life and how we can show people that we appreciate them. 💞💐💘

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, we explored tuff trays, talked about who we love and how we can show kindness. We also had a photo shoot! 💘💐💞

For our Chinese New Year celebrations we learnt lots of facts and made a dragon a musical instrument. We also had a very special visitor from our friends at Rushall, who bought a dragon dance to our classroom, this was a lovely experience. 🐲🐉

We loved our STORMBREAK session, this time we focused on building resilience and developing relationships. We learnt about how movement can boost our mental well-being. ✨⭐️✨

On our community visit we looked around the village and visited the park. We had so much fun, it was amazing to see us enjoying the fresh air. It was beautiful to see so many smiling faces.
