25th – 29th September

We have experienced a range mark-making, counting and sensory tuff trays over the week!

During bucket time, we have been developing our engagement skills and practising turn-taking. Some of the activities that we have taken part in include putting plasters on a teddy and being a puppeteer! We’re so proud of how well grasshoppers have watched and waited for their turns.

The makaton sign of the week next week is – dinner lady.

18-22 September

On Tuesday afternoon, we explored the Forest School area! We listened to the crunchy leaves under our feet, touched the wet grass and breathed in the fresh air! We collected different coloured leaves to take back to the classroom.

On Wednesday afternoon, we went to the music room! We enjoyed using different instruments and listened to the instructions ‘go’ and ‘stop’.

Next week, we will practise vocabulary linked to our topic ‘People who help us’: bus driver, teacher and friend.

Our first full week!

We’ve had a fun week continuing to explore our environment and experiencing different activities! These include: messy play tuff trays, art activities, outdoor playtime, music with Bev on Wednesdays and regular bucket time sessions.

The first three makaton signs that we will focus on over next week are: toilet, mum and dad. We will use them regularly during every day routines, stories or play, and will encourage the class to use these signs too.

This half term, we will have Forest School on Tuesday afternoons. Please bring clothes appropriate for the weather that day, as we aim to go out into nature whatever the weather! This means that our swimming sessions will start next half term.

Enjoy the weekend and see you on Monday! Grasshoppers 💚

Welcome to Grasshoppers!

We’ve had a super first week in Grasshopper class! We’ve enjoyed meeting new friends and teachers, exploring our new classroom and playing with new toys.

Thank you for supporting your child with having their belongings, snacks, drinks and diary bags ready and named! We will have PE on Thursday afternoons and we will keep PE kits in the children’s lockers for the term. We will keep you updated on when we’ll have our swimming and Forest School sessions.

The Grasshoppers team consists of: Louise, Nicky, Gemma, Farhat and Kylie, and on Wednesdays, Esther. We are all really excited to begin this year and create great memories together! If you need to contact the school, please call the main office or you can email Louise at: lbenton@oakwood.walsall.sch.uk

See you next week for lots more fun! Grasshoppers Team 💚
