All about Autumn

This week we have been exploring all about Autumn. We really enjoyed our forest school session where we went for a leaf hunt. We all tried to find the biggest leaf, an orange leaf, a brown leaf and a green leaf, we even enjoyed jumping through them and listening to the sounds they made. Back in the classroom, we then used the leaves to hide numbers and numicon in and enjoyed hunting for them.
As part of our ‘people who help us in the community’ topic, we have been learning the song ‘Five little firefighters’ by singing hands (link below). We have been learning the makaton signs to support our singing and have role played the song using firefighterstivk puppets, placing them in and out of the fire engine.
During greetings, we have worked really hard on our waiting and turn taking skills when using the interactive whiteboard. We have seen excellent listening skills, waiting to hear our name before having our turn during our fire engine game.
Well done Hedgehogs, another fantastic week!

Another fantastic week in Hedgehogs 🦔

This week in Hedgehogs we have been continuing to recognise ourselves and our friends in Hedgehogs class. We have practised turn taking during our carpet sessions and have continued to develop our understanding of our routine.

We have had a fantastic time exploring different sensory experiences including a farm with cereal fields and a duck pond.
In problem solving we have been exploring the song 5 little ducks and have enjoyed fishing the ducks out of the pond, counting them and at matching objects to symbols.
We are working really hard on using visual support to ask for our needs and wants particularly at snack time. There have been lots of moments of fantastic choosing work throughout the week.
Finally, we have enjoyed using paint, cars and numicon to create some beautiful artwork to add to our classroom displays.
Well done Hedgehogs!

First week in Hedgehogs 🦔

We have had a fantastic first full week in Hedgehogs. We have been exploring our new classroom environment and meeting our new friends. Throughout the week we have particularly enjoyed our sensory activities including a ‘pond’ with 5 little speckled frogs in.
