Good morning lovely Ladybirds 🐞 I hope you are all ok and have all had a good weekend.

Hopefully you have had chance to enjoy a little snow fun, perhaps you have been able to use your senses to explore, what does snow feel like? Does it sound different outside? Or perhaps you have created a snowman ☃️. Exploring the outdoors and different weather conditions supports confidence and allows big scale creativity, problem solving and interaction with others. It is also enhances our physical well being.

To follow are a few ideas for home learning today, of course the main thing is to have fun, explore and keep safe. Please do not worry if you have not got certain resources, I always find the recycling bin at home can help if you fancy being creative 😄 or simply bring a little snow inside to explore on a tray.

Adding different resources to snow or any sensory materials you have at home is a great way to extend learning and link with all areas of the curriculum. Hiding numbers or letters in flour or shaving foam or creating a small world adventure with figures or animals.

A Massive well done for good attention during focus activities and interaction with others, we are super proud of you 👏🤩⭐️

Another fun and fabulous week in Ladybird class 🤩👏🐞⭐️
We are so proud of how all our children are engaging during focus activities , this week we have had lots of fine motor fun.
We are working hard each week to develop our fine motor skills and this will enable our children to become more independent with getting dressed, completing puzzles, picking up small objects and using different utensils. We are making connections between our children’s small muscles, hands, wrists and fingers in coordination with their eyes. This will prepare our children for early writing, we are already introducing pens, pencils and crayons and our children are making lovely marks, some with meaning, just fantastic!
This week we have manipulated different musical instruments, created caterpillar finger paintings, used different utensils in shaving foam and been following different hand movements to “the wheels on the bus”.

The children have also had lots of fun developing their gross motor skills exploring our new indoor play equipment.

What a fantastic Children In Need we have had 🤩 Such fabulous Pudsey outfits, stripes and spots. The children enjoyed a day full of fun themed activities, sensory exploration with Pudsey , creating collage arts and crafts of Pudsey and lots of dance and movement.

We practiced our fine motor skills with spreading and cutting jam sandwiches for our teddy bears picnic. Some great attention and concentration ladybirds 🐞👏😊

The children decorated cupcakes with icing sugar and smarties to create spotty children in need cakes , the best part was eating these with our fury friends🐻 at the indoor picnic 😀🤩

Superstar of the week ⭐️🤩

Well done Keegan our superstar of the week ; for saying “more” and initiating an adult to help him to sign.

A massive Well done to Ollie this week, he has been doing wonderful interacting and communicating with all his friends and adults. 🤩👏⭐️

The children have had a fabulous week learning about Remembrance Day, we used simple language, symbols and animation to support understanding of how we use poppies to remember all of our brave soldiers.

The children created poppies out of biscuits using icing sugar and chocolate buttons, they were able to manipulate the different ingredients with their fingers and add them to their biscuits, the eating was fun too 😀 The children are becoming more accurate with their fine motor skills , well done ladybirds 👏🐞

We got crafty with paper cake cases , painting them with red paint, adding a black card board centre and green lollipop sticks for our stems. Some fantastic attention and concentration, the children are beginning to engage for longer periods. Amazing looking poppies everyone 🤩.

We encouraged the children to take part in our 2 minutes silence, using our wonderful remembrance animation to help us, I have attached it below if you would like to share this together as a family.

We also enjoyed poppy themed music and movement, singing “little poppies bouncing up and down song”, the children watched as the poppies jumped on our lovely red material. We counted all the way to 11 as a group and watched as the poppies fell onto the floor.

What a fantastic first week back at school ladybirds 🐞👏🤩. We have enjoyed many activities celebrating Diwali 🪔, bonfire night 🎇 and all things colour 🤩

During our physical well being sessions, we used dance and movement to make firework sequences with our bodies 😊The children loved to watch the beautiful coloured materials float through the air as the firework animations went bang 🎇🪔. We also used our noisy coloured balloons to create firework like sounds, the children had fantastic eye contact as they tracked the balloons flying across the classroom.

During music we followed the same themes, making large bangs with drums 🥁 🪘 and maracas to create bonfire and firework sounds. The children were encouraged to start and stop playing the instruments, following verbal directions from a leader. Well done everyone 🤩 great effort🐞👏

We explored Rangoli patterns , adding glue and glitter to our creations, the children extended there crafting into the outside areas with big art attack Rangoli patterns on our playground floor using chalks. 😀 We also enjoyed sensory exploration of different coloured light up objects to celebrate our festival of light 🎇🪔🐞.
