Chinese Dragon Dances

Today we were very lucky to have a Chinese dragon workshop at school. The children had the opportunity to learn some new skills; using fans, parasols and dragon masks to dance to Chinese music.
Lots of fun was had by all. The children showcased their new skills to their key stage 1 friends in the show finale.

Circus and pancakes!

We hope you all had a lovely half term break. We have continued our work on the circus this week, reading a book called ‘At the circus’. The children have enjoyed personalising the story by finding their own photographs and then placing themselves into the story. We have used stickers to create our own storyboards and will be making sensory popcorn crafts later in the week.
We have also been learning about Shrove Tuesday. We sang songs to help remember the ingredients and completed messy play to make a pretend batter mix. The children then had an opportunity to taste lemon and sugar on their pancake for snack time. The sour lemons made us pull some funny faces!

💕 Love is in the air!

We have been celebrating Valentine’s Day in Rabbit class this week.  The children used their senses to explore a range of objects in our sensory Valentine’s tray.  They especially liked sniffing the scented flowers and playing ‘peek-a-boo, I love you’ with the materials.  They have also been busy making crafts to send home and preparing a class card for the school competition to be held on Friday for our end of term disco.
Later in the week we will be making heart shaped biscuits in cooking and using salt dough to design our own ‘love bugs’.

🎪 Circus skills🏋️‍♂️🤸‍♀️🤹‍♀️

During our PE sessions this term, we have been practising our circus skills for balance, hand -eye coordination, as well as developing our gross motor strength.

Our class have loved moving their bodies to the lively circus music and following the coloured lights around the hall.  We have used the parachute to help us see the colours of the big top and using Makaton communication with help to request more or choose between equipment. The children have been supported to experience what it would be like to be a trapeze artiste or a tightrope walker.

After our exercise, we have completed warm down and relaxation with calming music and scented bubbles.
