We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year πŸŽ„β˜ƒοΈ

What a fun filled time we have had recently celebrating Christmas πŸŽ„. We made table cloths for the Christmas meal and decorations to take home with us in art.

Then during food technology sessions we made mince pies and cookies for the Christmas show. We hope that everyone who came to the concert enjoyed themselves.

And then a very special visitor made a surprise appearance! πŸŽ…πŸΌ ho ho ho! We enjoyed seeing Santa and saying what we would like for Christmas. Thank you to Dan and Gemma from the family liaison team for contacting Santa at the North Pole. It is a very busy time for Santa and elves, but you managed to get them to Oakwood, thank you! It was magical ✨

And then we ended our week with a lovely Christmas concert. We performed some of our favourite songs and had lots of fun. The mince pies and cookies that we made in food technology were given out to our family and friends. We opened up the Christmas treat trolley to sell some of Christmas items that we made. We hope that all of our family and friends have an amazing Christmas and we will see you in the new year!

Mini-Enterprise project – Pop up Christmas shop

A group of Year 9 pupils went to sell items at the Christmas shop in Walsall. Throughout the past week, all of our secondary classes made items to be sold at the pop up shop. Thanks to generous members of the public we made Β£42.

In Willows, we made felt Christmas decorations. Over the past couple of weeks we have designed the decorations, made them and then took them to the shop to sell them.

Black Country Living Museum

Wow! What an amazing day we had at the Black Country Living Museum! When we got to the museum we were greeted by a lady called Tina, dressed in period clothing to match the era of the buildings at the museum. She gave us a short history about the area we call the Black Country and then let us explore the museum. Our topic this term has been about β€˜homes and houses’ so this was the focus of our trip there. We looked at different home from the past and compared them to what our homes are like today.

The homes we went in to were dressed in traditional Christmas decorations which was lovely to see. We were slightly horrified to find out that toilets in the past were outside in the garden(and then relieved to discover that there are proper indoor toilets for us to use!)
