It was a beautiful day to enjoy the forest! It is always nicer when it is sunny π. We had fun exploring the forest and spending time socialising with our friends. Some pupils played hide and seek and others used the mud kitchen to create their own meals.
With World Book Day coming next week, we had a community trip to the local library. The staff there said we were wonderful and welcome any time! Willows, you are a credit to the school. At the library, we looked a different kinds of books and decided whether they were fiction or non fiction. We used the title, pictures and text to help us to sort the books. We then listened to a story which we are then going to write our own version of back at school. Then we had free time to look at any of the books that we wanted to.
In class we are learning the importance of calming ourselves and recognising different emotions. Stormbreak helps us to recognise these emotions and what we can do to help us to calm down if it is needed. It is also lots of fun to do in class and is enjoyed by the pupils and staff!
In maths over the past couple of weeks we have been learning to recognise coins and how many pennies this is equivalent to. We have the. Been using these skills to serve customers in our school shop.
Number Day is an opportunity to do something different together involving different areas of maths. Normally we work in maths groups so today it was lovely to be able to do activities together as a class and help one another. The theme in Willows was βmeasurementβ. We used non standard units of measure to measure the length and height of different objects around our classroom. We also solved problems by comparing measurements practically.
On Wednesday, it was Chinese New Year. We did a variety of activities throughout the week. We listened to the story about how the years were named after each animal. The story says that there was a great race and the winners of the race were given a year of the zodiac named after them.
Then we did some craft activities around Chinese new year. We painted a snake for the year of the snake, coloured a Chinese new year picture and made a Chinese dragon chatterbox by folding paper.
Then on Friday, a lovely group of Rushall Primary School pupils visited out class to show us their dragon dance. Thank you for visiting our class! ππ². It is traditional at Chinese new year to give red envelopes with coins in to wish people luck for the coming year.
