National Memorial Arboretum

As part of the VE celebrations we visited the National Memorial Arboretum. It was a wonderful opportunity to see the memorials from different areas of the armed forces in memory of different wars. We were all really respectful as we walked around the site.

VE Day celebrations

On Thursday we remembered those that fought in the war and their bravery. It has been 80 years since the end of the war in Europe. We celebrated like those in the past at the end of the war by making a Victoria sandwich cake, wartime cake and jam sandwiches. We celebrated together by having a street party out on the secondary playground. We painted flags to use at the celebrations.

Geography – continents and oceans

In geography this week we have been learning about the continents of the world. To start to learn where these are located we used hoops to represent the seven continents. We then played a game to run to the continents. We also learn that the countries closest to the equator are the hottest and furthest away they are cold.

Caring for our school environment ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒผ

There have been new plants planted at school and we want them to look really beautiful. As itโ€™s warm we need to water these plants regularly so they donโ€™t dry out. We filled up the watering cans to give the plants lots of water. We then collected litter around the area to ensure that the environment looks nice and we care for the plants and animals that share the environment with us.

PE sessions – striking and fielding games

For the past couple of weeks we have been learning how to play a game similar to cricket. The game of baseball involves hitting 5 balls off the target with the cricket bat. The fielding team then have to collect all of the balls. The quicker the fielding team do this the less runs the batting team make.

Breakfast Club and Healthy Eating

This is the first week of our new brilliant breakfast club. It has been wonderful spending time together first thing in the morning. We have jazz music on in the background to create a relaxing atmosphere. We have then enjoyed cereal and toast before we start our learning. We have even learnt how to do the washing up! These are amazing life skills.

Then at snack time we have brought in healthy fruit from home rather than our usual crisps and chocolate. Pupils have been so positive with this move and have actually enjoyed only eating the food.

Happy Easter ๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿซ

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter. The sun โ˜€๏ธ is shining and spring is definitely here! In the last week of term we enjoyed Easter and spring activities. We always enjoy craft activities. We spent time in the art room with Dan, for some of our crafts and invited our family in to join us. Thank you for joining our craft workshop. Then we made spring baskets in the classroom and enjoyed Easter treats.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar ๐Ÿ› stories ๐Ÿ“–

On World Book Day back in March the theme for our class was the brilliant story The Very Hungry Caterpillar written by Eric Carle. Since then we have been writing our own version of the story. Each week we have looked at a different part of the story. We hen wrote our own version of that section. By the end of term we wrote a whole story and designed a front cover to turn it in to a book. We shared the books with our friends and then took them home to our family.

D-I-S-C-O ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿชฉ

At the end of term we enjoyed a brilliant disco for secondary pupils. It was lovely to spend time with our friends, signing, dancing and eating. We had so much fun! Thank you to Ruth for organising and all of the other staff that stayed and helped make it happen.
