It was beautiful to wake up on Tuesday morning with a covering of snow. Everything looks so magical when there is snow on the ground. We wrapped up warm and went outside to play in the snow and throw snowballs at the adults!

We had a lovely day today having some chill time to do some Pudsey activities. We coloured, painted, drew patterns and counting all linked to the Pudsey bear theme. We enjoyed coming in our own uniform to celebrate Children in Need.

At 11 oβclock on the 11th day of the 11th month we remember all the soldier past and present that have fought in wars around the world. We visited Pelsall to look at the poppy display and to see the wreaths laid at the cenotaph. In class, we made a wreath to take with us to add to the cenotaph.

whilst we were paying our respects, we watched this animation to help understand what was happening and why it is remembered. Following on from this, in music on Friday, we marched to the music and played the instruments from a marching band.

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, βtwas his intent
To blow up King and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old Englandβs overthrow.
By Godβs mercy he was catched,
With a dark lantern and lighted match.

It has also been Diwali recently. We learnt about why and how Diwali is celebrated. We learnt it is the festival of light and it is celebrated with fireworks and lamps. We made our own diva lamp out of clay, decorated it with sequins and glitter so that it sparkles when we put a light inside.

At the end of last half term we celebrated Harvest. Thank you to everyone that donated items to the food bank. It is very much appreciated. Throughout the week we took part in many activities that helped us have a better understanding of harvest and autumn. In art we looked at different pumpkins and created our own out of autumn leaves.

We then created our own autumn trees using paint and the correct colours for autumn leaves.

Later in the week we shared fresh bread, butter and jam together to give thanks for the harvest. It was very yummy indeed!

During our class community visit we looked at the different items in the shops that grow and are then harvested. We also bought some ingredients to make a pumpkin cake. It used lots of different ingredients and we were helped by our in class master chefs, Delena and Tracy! It was delicious!

As each week goes by we are working on the independence of face washing. Each week pupils are requiring less support as they remember what they did the previous week. Then, at the end of the sssion, we collect the towels and flannels and put them in the washing machine. We are teaching pupils to use a washing machine so soon pupils will be able to wash their own clothes are home!! π

This week we used water colour paints to create a different style with our art work. We mixed colours and created our own patterns with the paint. It is very calming working with watercolours.

When we went to the supermarket this week we focussed on the foods in the supermarket that are healthy and foods that should be eaten in moderation as a treat. We named a lot of fruit of vegetables and decided these are very good for us. When we werenβt sure we looked at the label. On some of the labels there is a traffic light system for fat, salt and sugar. If these are red on the label then we can only have these once in a while. We then looked at the labels on similar products and decided which was the healthiest option.

This week we continued to look at the prices of the products in the shop. We read the price using the vocabulary pounds and pence. We looked at similar prices and tried to work out which was the cheapest and best value for money.
