We have had another fantastic week at school! Today was a special day because we had our celebration assembly in the new gym! There was singing, dancing, signing and celebrations! Take a look at our fantastic assembly:

This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year and welcomed the year of the snake! There has been lots of fun learning about Chinese traditions and we had a special visitor …..The  Chinese Dragon who performed the Dragon Dance to bring us good luck and send us blessings for the new year. We have all had a brilliant week at school, having endless fun while experiencing and learning new skills. Well done to everyone for your hard work this week! I know that you will continue to learn more, know more and do more next week.

We applied to Variety for a new minibus in March 2023.

As our school has grown, we needed another minibus so that our students, particularly the older ones, have an opportunity to explore the wider community. They need to develop their independence skills outside the classroom. This bus will enable them to do this.

The amount raised by PSA (Friends of Oakwood) was £17,275.00.

The other two thirds was sponsored by Daz’s Rock 4 Charity and The Rowlands Trust.

The money has been raised through donations from various businesses, including MV Kelly, Palletways, RSK Transport, NA Cars, Morgan’s Café & Midland Block & JJ as well as personal donations from parents and families.

The rest of the money has been raised through events such as sponsored swim, sponsored mountain climb (Ben Nevis and Snowden), Duke of Edinburgh Award, Summer Fayre, Sponsored Wheel-a-thon and various raffles. Our final donation came from Lorraine Thompson, Head of Virtual School.
