D.I.S.C.O FEVER!

As part of enrichment experience for the Spring Term we held a disco and karaoke evening after school on Tuesday 8th April 2025. We chose our very own playlist, decorated the hall, wore our favourite outfits and danced the night away!

The disco was a great success and it was wonderful to see our secondary learners socialising with their peers and showing off their fantastic dance moves. We also had a great solo karaoke performance from one our pupils.

We are so proud of everyone who took part and look forward to the next event in the Summer Term.

Attendance Superstars!

Our attendance continues to increase and is now at 90.4%.

A Special Celebration at The Town Hall

On Wednesday 2nd April,  some of the students from Grasshoppers went to a special celebration at The Town Hall to celebrate their friend Chloe, who won a competition about staying healthy and how to look after yourself.

The students met The Mayor and Chloe’s design will feature in a special children’s wellbeing book. Take a look at the winning design below and some special pictures from the day!

World Book Day 2025

There was lots of fun on Thursday 6th March as we celebrating World Book Day. This is an annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and the joy of reading. Let’s Dance at Walsall Wood!

The school hall was set up for a disco with a giant tunnel to encourage movement! Everyone had an amazing time engaging with the different sensory elements which encourage movement and interaction. Take a look at our class blogs for more photos and videos.

Oakwood Celebrate the National Day of Dance!

It has been amazing to see all of the colourful clothing, party wear, and all sorts of costumes ready to boogie in! As part of the National Day of dance, we have been dancing to Disco, Sensology Disco and also joining in with some Line Dancing! 

What is the National Day of Dance? 

Let’s Dance is a national campaign to inspire everyone to embrace dance as a way to improve their health, connect with others, and have fun. Founded by Angela Rippon CBE, the campaign is supported by leading organisations including the Sport and Recreation Alliance, NHS, and Parkinson’s UK.
