Last week at Oakwood we celebrated the return of our ‘Makaton Choir’. Our Makaton Choir takes place on a Friday lunchtime and we have lots of fun singing and signing together. Throughout our sessions a range of total communication resources are available to support everyone to become involved.
This week we proudly welcomed both old and new members and we all had a wonderful time sharing and using our fantastic singing and signing skills when performing one of our favourite songs ‘My School’. Please see the video link below to join in at home.
In the next few weeks we are looking forward to welcoming even more of our friends and we will be beginning to practice and perform some of our harvest songs, ready for our harvest celebrations.
At Oakwood, on Friday 1st October 2021 both staff and children took part in fundraising to help raise money for a very special cause ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’. In classes, all children had a fantastic time getting creative when decorating their own cakes to eat in school or some even took them home, we all created amazing unique designs. WELL DONE TO ALL!!! Our Oakwood staff also helped raise money by holding our own staff cake sale.
We would like to say a ‘huge thankyou’ to all parents for your very kind donations, they were greatly accepted. Please keep your eyes peeled to our school website and school app to find out how much we have raised at Oakwood.
On Friday we have had an absolutely amazing summer fun day, celebrating all our hard work this year and also wishing our Year 6 leavers good luck for their next exciting adventure in secondary school.
We had a wonderful time bouncing on the bouncing castle and playing with water and sand in our outdoor learning areas, we especially enjoyed making sandcastles and having water fights. 💦
We were extremely lucky to have chance to experience sitting inside two amazing super and luxury cars 🚙 as well as enjoyed a very yummy ice cream from the ice cream van 🍦 We would also like to thank NA Cars for the very kind donation to help make our day very special.
During our celebration day, we especially enjoyed our picnic themed lunchtime in our own party time boxes, including pizza and chips or ham or cheese sandwiches, cake and juice.
We all had a super fun day and created many special memories 🌟🎉
This week we have enjoyed ‘Sport’s Day’ at school, at the Satellite it took place on Wednesday and at the main site it took place at Thursday. We all had a wonderful time, getting dressed into our P:E kits and then taking part in a range of P:E activities on our school playgrounds. We enjoyed ‘party time with the parachute’, ‘jumptastic to practice our jumping skills’, ‘we aimed high when throwing at given targets’, as well as we ‘pranced and danced’ using our colourful scarves and ribbons to our favourite music. Our favourite activity station was our ‘bubble bonanza’, we made some amazing giant bubbles and enjoyed popping them.
A huge well to everyone who took part – everyone was a winner!!
